Meet the team

As we gear up for the Amazing Lace challenge, it's high time to introduce you to the (Mostly) Self-Taught Knitter Amazing Lace team.

Our first member of Team (M)S-T is Karen.

Heritage: Mostly Italian, with some Polish and English thrown in. The hot Italian temper may be a problem. However, she also inherited a huge stubborn streak from the Italian AND the Polish grandmothers, so once she sets her mind to something, she is not likely to give up.
Expectations: Low. However, she did make it through a Lopi Lace scarf and is currently having success with Embossed Leaves socks.

The next member of Team (M)S-T is Peat.

Heritage: 100% Wool Fingering. Discovered at a Fiber Fest in April. Joining the team from Thing Remembered in Slate Hill, NY.
Expectations: We see problems ahead. This member, being Fingering, is extremely anorexic. Will be hard to work with.

The last member of Team (M)S-T is Prym - a late arrival, having just shown up yesterday.

Heritage: German, although there are rampant rumors that this member actually joins us from Mexico.
Expectations: This seems to be the strongest member of the team, having already been paired with Karen in the Knitting Olympics. They won gold (as seen above . . . Karen's team photo is from her post-Olympic photo shoot).

The challenge:

Kiri.
The team is well advised to be afraid. Be very afraid.

A stellar team - I have no doubt you can do it! (says one who did NOT take on the challenge!)

Don't be afraid of Kiri! It's really not very hard at all. Follow the charts as opposed to the row-by-row direction. Feel free to ask questions!

Kiri is a great pattern! You'll love the finished shawl, too.

Go, team, Go! One row at a time, baby. I'm going to lace vicariously through you.

Love the team - especially the post-Olympic photo-op. Is that a halo or a tiara?

I'll redo my template this weekend, when I finally put my Amazing Lace entry up for real.

Nice to meet your team! I still need to put my team together!

you can do it! i think Kiri will be good to you and Prym and Peat. I'm not sure about the other pete since my DF seems to be the one who gets the beatings when knitting gets me down...

Amazing looking team! You should get gold again!

That is *such* a cute entry! Go team!

Go team GO!
psh, Kiri's got nothing on you!
i say, once you get past the first few repeats, you'll be breezing through it! Chris mentioned having a marker for the center stitches and the first three stitches of each row helps--and lifelines are definitely necessary!
i wonder whatever happened to my black KSH kiri...probably in a WIP back somewhere...
thanks for trying to keep me in check with my yarn purchases, but i'm afraid i fell weakly to the siren song of brooks farm four play. *sigh*
have a great weekend, karen!

LOL, you're so funny, certainly made me laugh with your introduction! :) And of course you'll make it through Kiri - without any problems, I might add! You'll be doing just fine, and I'm so looking forward to seeing your first progress pics! Go, girl!

Good luck on the amazing lace challenge! I really liked the Kiri pattern, and it was easier than I thought it would be. Your happy yarn is on its way, and should be there on Wednesday via the brown truck. :-) Have a wonderful day!
xo,
Your secret dye-o-rama buddy

Beautiful color yarn. I've been looking for a neutral that isn't too dull -- yours has lots of warmth. Can't wait to see your progress!
