Remember that Sock Landscape yarn that Knit Picks used to have? I've had a skein in my stash forever, in the Cape Cod colorway. So, it was a no-brainer what my travel project would be for our trip to the Cape a few weeks ago. I consulted Ravelry for pattern ideas and found that someone had knit gorgeous socks in the same colorway using the Elongated Corded Rib pattern from Sensational Knitted Socks. Perfect!!! (What did we ever do before Ravelry??)
The pattern is fun and knits up pretty quickly, but when we got home from the Cape I ditched the poor sock after getting obsessed with the Casino Shawl. A few days ago I picked it up again and finished the first one.So pretty and a perfect fit!! I love the way socks in ribbed patterns fit. I was a little sad to see the pooling on the gusset - you can't see it as well in the picture, but the tan sections really pooled and it looks kind of funny.
It's getting very cloudy out and it's cool here. My house is spotless and the laundry is done. I think I'll curl up on the couch with some tea and get to work on Cape Cod sock #2!!

It's not hardly pooling badly at all. I love that colorway though. Of course I can't get it anymore. And I don't know... what *did* we do before Ravelry?
The sock looks great!
I don't think the pooling looks too bad. It's a lovely sock!
Wow your good! a spotless house and finished laundry... YOu deserve to knit to your hearts content!
The sock looks great! I feel like I'm cheating and knitting a pair of socks for Chloe, for the sam kal4... I just don't have time this month to devote to my "real ones". Knitting for babies goes sooo quickly! I already have one done!
I know, what DID we do before Ravelry?!! Your cape Cod looks fantastic, and personally I always expect a little pooling around the gusset just because the st pattern changes...
Did the tan pool up on the opposite side of the foot? My dark and light colors always seem to split and pool perfectly on opposite sides at the gusset. I've decided it gives my socks character and therefore makes them more awesome. I'm sure it does the same for your Cape Cod socks.
Awww! I absolutely adore these socks! What a beautiful pattern, and I love this warm and calm color! Even the pooling looks really good, it makes the sock look totally unique - and gorgeous!
Btw - your house is spotless? Hmmm... just thinkin'... you wouldn't want to do a little trip to Austria??? A spotless apartment... awww, that's a dream of mine indeed ;)
I wouldn't have even noticed the pooling. Isn't a nice snug sock the best? And what did we do before Ravelry?
Hello! The pooling must be different on the other side of the heel? One side is tan and the other is what we see. Thankfully it is the heel...which will be mostly hidden in shoes...BECAUSE the socks look GREAT of course!! The look like a perfect fit! I love the pattern stitch that you used it made the socks look wonderful. Speaking of Ravelry...I wonder if I have moved up on the list. Hahahah.
Lucky you! A spotless house. I'm avoiding going downstairs because I know it looks like a tornado went through. I'm giving myself a little more computer time, then heading down for clean-up. Knitting time this afternoon!
It sounds like you are in for the perfect day! I love the sock xoxo
They look great - and the varigations didn't do too bad, otherwise. Enjoy sock #2!
They look great!
Pooling-schmooling. Socks are supposed to do that around the heel - unless you do a short-row heel - no worries. :o)
Thank you for dropping by and offering your condolences for Sheeba. It means a lot when people care enough to leave a kind message.
Ooops, sorry - I don't know what happened to my link [above].
I second the reader who is amazed with the spotless house and the lack of laundry. Your husband is such a lucky man. Your socks are way cute.
I love the way the ribbed pattern breaks up the stripes and makes it look interesting. I'm totally going to copy you!
loving the socks! I don't think the pooling looks that bad... it always happens to me at the gussett, too. And a spotless house and clean laundry? Completely jealous of that...
