My feet are in Cape Cod . . . .

. . . but unfortunately, the rest of me is here.

At least the socks I started on vacation are done.

Cape Cod Socks
Elongated Corded Rib from Sensational Knitted Socks
Cast on: 25 August 2007
Completed: 23 September 2007
Yarn: Knit Picks Sock Landscape - Cape Cod
Needles: Knit Picks US2 (3mm) DPNs

I really enjoyed knitting this pair. Okay, I probably enjoyed knitting the first sock more than the second, because I was on vacation when I knit most of it! In any case, the pattern is wonderful, as are the other patterns I've knit from Sensational Knitted Socks. That book is certainly a great investment if you are a sock knitter.

As I mentioned before, the yarn is discontinued. The first ball was wonderful and made me disappointed to know it was no longer available. The second ball was a bit of a different story. There was one spot where all but one ply was broken, so I had to cut the yarn and restart it again. (Grrr, two more ends to weave.) There were also two small spots where the yarn didn't get dyed. These pictures are a bit blurry, but you should be able to see two different colored stitches near the middle of each picture.

All in all, it's not a huge deal and won't really show unless I point it out to people, but it's still a little disappointing.

The socks came out great. Don't you hate that when the yarn has defects like that?

PRETTY! I wish I was on the Cape feasting some fried clams right about now.

I'm so not going to have a sock FO for the KAL this month. Oh well. Wait baby socks....

Yeah, I have really mixed feelings about that yarn too. The socks look great though.

I guess the plus side of the second sock having the undyed sections, is now you won't be as sad about the yarn being discontinued huh?

They still turned out very nice!

Cool socks! I hate it when skeins have flaws in them. I know it's not a big deal to cut and restart, but it peeves me.

Socks on the beachfront are hysterically funny. Thanks for making me laugh today! love the socks too. As for the two small spots. PLAHEESE
don't even point them out. You know, a man on horseback can't see them and a man on foot has no business looking!

The socks are great! I know that you are worried about the pooling on the heel, but they really look good. Hmm...weird how one skein was great and the other was wonky. I cannot say that I haven't had that experience though...because I have. Love your picture of your feet in Cape Cod. Hahha. Are you feeling better yet???

It irks me so much when commercial yarn is inconsistent like that. I'd expect it from hand dyed, but I hold commercial yarn to a different standard!

Regardless, your socks look really nice and it's true that no one will notice the undyed part unless you show them.

Ohhh - I really, really love these socks! They look fantastic in this warm and calm color, and what a beautiful pattern! But I'm sorry you've been having such problems with the yarn, it just sucks when this happens, doesn't it?
I love your photo-montage of the socks being in Cape Cod - ahhh, I wish I could be there too now ;)
