Having a Monk Moment . . .

Quite a while ago, I scored a great little beading kit for an excellent price on clearance at Barnes & Noble. It included a ton of beads, with each color packaged in it's own little plastic bag. They sat there for quite a while, because I was afraid of the mess that would ensue when I opened the bags. But on a trip to Wal-Mart Friday night, I found a great little bead organizer to keep everything from spilling all over the place. I came home and dumped each packet of beads into a little container. It was good, but something was still very wrong. Can you guess what the problem was?

THE SEED BEADS AND BUGLE BEADS WERE ALL MIXED IN TOGETHER. Now, if you know me at all, then you know that will never do. We can't have different sizes of beads all mixed in together. Oh yes I did . . . .

Yup, Friday night, while watching Monk, I began the lengthy task of sorting the seed beads from the bugle beads. Pea and I laughed a bit at how fitting it was that I would sort my beads while watching Monk. I got through about three colors before bed. In the morning, the minute I got up, I got right back to sorting beads. As I told Pea, that's why they call it OBSESSIVE Compulsive . . . I just HAD to get it done before I did anything else.

Aaaahhhh, that's better. Oh Mr. Monk, you are the only one who really understands me!

Love it, but I would have been doing the same thing!

We prefer to think of it as OCO - Obsessive Compulsive Order - afterall it's all about order, not disorder, right? Love the bead sorting contraption.

Very interesting! Now it's done! :)

I completely *get* why you sorted them. I've done the same thing with my beads, although not during an episode of Monk. That is just too funny!!

Karen, you've given me my morning chuckle! Kevin totally understands. He was a little freaked out during Monk when Mr. Monk was convinced that his sideburns were uneven. Kevin does a little are-my-sideburns-even dance every morning.

Did you notice Monk polishing his eggs? What a hoot.

LOL! Well at least it will be easier to find what you want. :)

You crack me up - and, rest assured, we all have our issues.

My LYS and I are doing a KAL for the New Pathways book by Cat Bordhi and I bought 4 pks of alphabet beads for us all to make the stitch markers suggested in the book.

We spent the first hour or so of the first get together sorting the A-F beads from all the rest and then sorting those by letter - we were going to sort by color too, but we wanted to start knitting instead.

LOL..you are too funny. I have been known to do similar things.

I can totally see why you would need to sort those beads! I feel compelled to sort things like that, even for the kids toys(like legos) but then my husband reminds me that they are kids and would IMMEDIATELY undo all my hard work.

Organization leads to efficiency!!

Ummmm - to me it seems perfectly obvious that the bugle beeds must not reside with the seed beads. I mean really!

Those are great bead containers. I hate mixed up beads too. See, your not the only one. I probably would have gotten my hubby to do it though. I like order, but have no patience.

Oh I definitely prefer the beads sorted by size *and* shape *and* color- one kind of bead per container please. We love to watch Monk too though usually it's after the fact on DVR rather than while it's actually airing.

I had to laugh when I read this - don't worry, I do exactly the same!

I love the containers. Don't feel bad I would have done it too. I did get a chuckle out of you doing while watching Monk though.

I'm glad you didn't sneeze in the middle of it...

Yes, I wouldn't have been able to rest until they were all in their rightful place!

Oh. My. Gosh!!! Kudos to you for even daring to start this job, and even more kudos for actually sorting everything! Monk would have gotten insane at the mere thought of it ;))) Woah, I totally admore your patience - can you perhaps send a little bit of it (of the patience, not the beads...) over to me, pretty pleeze?? ;)

LOL! Definitely not OCD...hahahha.
I would do the same thing. Hey...your new yarn almost seems to match this plate you have pictured with your beads. I have that same container that you have...and my beads are sorted like that too. See, totally normal!!
