Winter Warmth

I recently won a contest over at Chrissy's blog. Okay, that's not exactly true. I recently LOST a contest over at Chrissy's blog because I got there nine minutes too late!! But, since Chrissy is an amazing and generous person, she decided to give away a second place prize also. It arrived over the weekend while I was away, and was waiting at my parent's house when we finally went over to pick up our mail. Look at the terrific stuff Chrissy sent!!!The theme of the package is WARM, and these lovelies will certainly help me stay nice and toasty!! The blue yarn is a beautiful skein of Rowanspun Aran. I think this is destined to become another pair of mittens, or a pair of gloves or a hat. The other hank of yarn is a really neat Fleece Artists Thrummed Sock kit! I've been noticing some Thrumming popping up on blogs lately, and wasn't quite sure what it was all about. Now I can learn it first hand! I'm really excited, since I'm usually the last one to try the latest craze. And to keep me warm while knitting up my winter garments, some yummy Raspberry Tea!! All of this for second place. Thank you so much, Chrissy, you are too generous.

Looks like this package arrived at the perfect time, because it snowed this morning!! See!!!What? You can't see the few measly little flakes that accumulated on the blue railing? I'd take a better picture, but that's all the snow we got. Fine by me, I'm staying in to knit my new warm yarn whether it snows or not!!

How lovely! I haven't yet made any thrummed mittens, but they're on my to-do list. I even have roving, etc. waiting in the wings. That was quite a haul for second place. I'm crossing my fingers for you that no more snow falls. Have a great weekend!

Nice yarn! Your snowflakes are kinda pathetic though. ;o) We have 4-5 inches on the ground which is nice because it covers up the doggy droppings in our yard.

Very nice goodies there! Hah, I got a few more flakes than you...but gone within the hour!

I don't think your snowflakes are pathetic .. they're "cute".

Congrats on the win! Even if it was 2nd you ended up with nice stuff!!

Yay for winning - or NOT winning in this case ;) I totally adore the yarn, such beautiful colours!
I had to laugh with your snow photo - yep, that's exactly what we've been getting here too - what a strange "winter" this is!

Winter warm presents! What could possibly be better! Enjoy your knitting day :) We got about 6 inches of snow last night - the kids and the dog are absolutely thrilled! DH on the other hand is not, as he is snowblowing our very large driveway and then my parent's very large driveway! What a good guy!

Snow? What snow, want some of ours?

Seriously though enjoy making the thrummed mittens, but where is the raw fibre? The fleece artist is just part of thrumming ?!?

Ooh, lucky girl! Those mittens are going to be stunning, the colors are lovely. I saw an article in IK maybe an issue or two ago about thrumming, and it looks cool and easy to do.
