Late again

Almost two weeks ago, I finally finished my Bejeweled scarf. I don't know why it took me so long to post it. I guess I kept thinking I'd model it and Pea could take pictures, but I never got around to doing that. So instead, why not let the neighbors see how really crazy I am. "Honey, look, that weird girl next door has wrapped a scarf around the front porch post and is taking pictures of it". "Yeah, isn't she the same one who hangs yarn on her clothes line?"

Bejeweled
Cast On: 1 January 2007
Completed: 13 February 2007
Yarn: Knit Picks Wool of the Andes - Cranberry
Needles: Clover Bamboo US8 (5mm) Straight

I have to admit, I like to wear scarves, but I don't much like to knit them. I get very bored very fast. However, once I hit the half-way point on this one, I managed some kind of zen and was happy to crank the rest out. I'm hoping the same will happen with the Clapotis I recently dug out from the depths of the WIP piles.

In addition to being a fun new accessory, this scarf counted in both the Bejewled KAL and as one of my projects for Not a Gift. It also helped to chip away at my stash miles! Not a bad deal for one scarf.

In the background of the "crazy lady's scarf on the porch" shot you can catch a glimpse of our first real snow of the season. Here's a better picture of the snow for you.

I'm not a fan of snow by any means, but this storm wasn't too bad. It's only a couple of inches, and was the light fluffy snow that shovels away pretty easily. I'll be very happy if this is the last snow we see though. I'm ready for spring.

I just want to end with a quick note about that skein of Socks That Rock. I did end up letting Blue Moon Fiber Arts know about the problems, even though I feel a defective skein is bound to happen here and there and I didn't want to be a complainer. They were glad that I had sent them the information, because it helps them with quality control and to insure the mills are accountable for the yarn they supply. They even offered to replace the skein, which I declined because the yarn itself is in good condition (aside from the breaks) and can certainly be knit up without a problem. I have to tell you, even with the "bad" skein, I'd buy STR again in a minute. We all love the yarn and colorways, and their customer service was the icing on the cake!!

The scarf looks great! And what a clever pose for the scarf - the white post makes the color pop.

Glad to hear that Blue Moon was so receptive to your defective yarn.

Such a pretty scarf! And a creative picture too. I haven't advanced my blog photography beyond laying my knitting on the deck railing.

BTW, I received my first 2 hanks of STR today. YUMMY! I'll blog them if I'm ever home during daylight hours. again.

Beautiful Bejeweled. I started one this weekend, and am thinking it will be a nice mindless knit.

Looks great! I too, am a "boring" picture taker - my deck railing (like Sonya) is about as good as it gets.

After awhile the neighbors will get used to the crazy knitting lady... mine have! The scarf is absolutely beautiful but I know what you mean about getting bored with them after awhile.

I LOVE your front porch photo. Although I shivered when I saw it, I also then pictured it in the summer & was jealous that I don't have a porch. Oh well.... I can still fantasize about the front porch on my dream house.

Great scarf!! The thought of the neighbours wondering what on earth your doing out there has me chuckling!!

Is it bad I would have said yes to the yarn.....but then again we can't all be as lucky as you and have how many miles of stash LOL

I kidding ya....in time I plan on having that much plus LOL

The scarf is gorgeous. I should really go and buy that pattern.
That's awesome that Blue Moon was so great with their customer service. It always makes me feel good to shop with people who have good business ethics.

I love the deep red - very classy color for the Bejeweled! I like the scarf posed on the porch post. And talk about "getting looks", you should see the reactions I get when I pose my knitting & yarn on the vehicles in the showroom!

Yes, I'm with you about disliking scarf knitting...so tedious! But the result in your case is lovely, enjoy!!

Love the deep red of your bejeweled. The colour looks lovely against the snow. It has been snowing here for way too long and there is nothing like a red scarf to cheer you up when it's cold. Thanks for your very kind recent comments BTW, much appreciated.

Whee, pretty snow! But if you're tired of it, come to Texas. I think we're done with winter here.

Hee, I read "icing on the cake" and I immediately got up to look for cookies.

Once more you did such a great job - that scarf looks very beautiful, especially in this warm colour, and wow, it sure suits your porch post perfectly ;) And LOL about the neighbours - I'm sure they'll be eyeing you suspiciously from now on ;)
Cool snow - it's not a lot, but definitely more than we've gotten here all winter long! But now it's time for spring - yay for spring!

Well at least all my neighbors know Rich and I as the looney kids who keep to themselves. It used to bother me but now I find it a blessing! Great looking scarf. :)
