Vacation Yarn P*rn - The Lace-weight

You've seen the "group picture" of the yarn that followed me home from vacation. How about a closer look? It was all sock yarn, except for one lonely skein of lace-weight. I found it at the first yarn store we visited, Knitting Sisters. It is a beautiful store, bright and spacious, and filled with the most delicious yarn. It was hard to choose. Until I spied a skein of lace-weight that reminded me of a purple iris.

The colors are deeper than my picture shows - some day I need to learn either how to take a better picture or how to do a better job color correcting. Anyway, the yarn is by Prism Yarn. The colorway is actually called Tumbleweed, and a more accurate picture is here.

I'd never heard of Prism Yarn before, and it was hard to choose just one skein because the colorways are so gorgeous. Just take a look! And that's just their lace-weight yarn. In the end, I couldn't resist the purples, greens and browns in this skein. It's got a generous 1460 yards, so I should have enough for any pattern I choose. Suggestions anyone?

Knitting Sisters?!?!? You were in my town!!!!!!!!! I could have met you there! What a bummer. LOVE the Prism--I had that very colorway in my hand standing at the check-out desk in May. Had to put it back in favor of all the other stuff I had projects planned for. Sorry I missed you!

Such beautiful yarn! Lace weight totally intimidates me.

Beautiful yarn!!!! I haven't knit lace in for-ev-er so I'm not really up on current patterns... something not too complicated, though because of all of the different colors in the yarn. Perhaps a Print'o the Wave stole?

This yarn is stunningly beautiful! What will you make? Anne Hansen's Irtfaa is one of the many on my "To Knit" list. I'm trying to diet by eating less. It sucks. Hope you're having more success than I. Cheers!

Mmm...laceweight. So very pretty. I have Kiri, Laminaria, Swallowtail and Flower Basket in my Rav queue. Sigh. Some day...

1460 yards? Holy toledo! That must have broke the bank. My pattern suggestions would be all the lace shawls I've knit (love them all) and all the ones in my queue. ;-)

Such beautiful yarn -- I definitely see Iris in that! Handdyed laceweight always gets me.

Suggestions: the pie wedge shawl from Helen's Lace is pretty easy, and the new diagonal stole pattern from Eunny Jang in the Fall IK would look nice too. Heartstrings Fiber Arts also makes a pretty lace pattern, in addition to the others suggested here. Looking forward to seeing what you choose!
