Ugh. May.

Usually I like May. But not this year. Can we skip May and get right to June? Why? Well, the fact that it's May 1st means that in 25 days, I have to turn 40. I'm SO not ready to be 40.

So, to distract me from thinking about getting older, let's talk about socks. Another reason I wasn't looking forward to May was because I didn't think I'd get my April Sock-A-Month socks done in time. But luckily, around 9:00 last night I kitchenered the second toe!!

"Speedy Seal Rock Socks"
Pattern: My own generic pattern
Cast on: 21 April 2008
Frogged & Restarted: 24 April 2008
Completed: 30 April 2008
Yarn: Socks That Rock Mediumweight in Seal Rock
Needles: Clover Bamboo US3 (3.25mm) DPNs

Unless I've miscounted along the way, this is my 25th pair of socks. And I don't plan on stopping the sock knitting any time soon. If you're an avid sock knitter too, why not check out Summer of Socks 2008?

Summer of Sock 08

Jessica always does such a great job running this KAL, and this year promises to be the most fun one yet. She's got some wonderful contests planned and a bunch of great sponsors already on board. Sign-ups are only open until May 15th, so go join up now, okay? :)

40s are wonderful. dont look back.

40 really? Why did I think you were in your early 30's? You don't look 40 at all. I have heard that 40's are the best and since you're a year ahead of me, I'll let you find out first. ;-)

The socks turned out great and even with a restart you got them done in time. Bravo!

bah! Age is just a number. ;o)

"Pay no attention to that birthday behind the curtain..."

And I am SSOOOOOO digging those sock blockers! Where did you get them?

Love the socks! And I understand the not wanting the birthday to appear thing, even if I am a bit behind ya. ;) Thanks for the SOS plug too. I sure hope it lives up to your expectations. :)

The socks are Gorgeous! I need more coffee this morning because when I first typed this I accidentally started socks with a "c".

I turned 40 last summer. I won't lie to you, there is quite a blow to the ego. One can reason that it's "just a number" and we all know that it beats the alternative. But still...

Hugs to you!

You'll like your 40's. I'm having the time of my life. I've learned to do so much. Learned to knit and spin. Learned to drive a motorcycle, I'm on my second one. Learning to weave and as if I didn't have enough to do I'm learning to Poi dance. (That's fire spinning.) Yep I'm going to dance with fire. I'm also going to Burning Man for the first (hopefully not last) time. So chin up there's alot to look forward to.

Welcome to the club, darlin'. I just leapt over the 40 hurdle a couple of months ago. It's not so bad on this side, but I do try to avoid full length mirrors when I get in and out of the shower.

Love your socks! I must go join the KAL now.

40! Are you sure? =) You sure do not look 39. I thought you were closer to my age (31). Hubby just turned forty and well he is still the same. It is all about how you act and feel. Hubby acts just like the kiddies.

25 pairs! That is a lot of stitches!!!

=)

Please tell me when you turn 40 how wonderful it feels, since I'm not too far behind you. :)

So glad you had a great time at WEBS! And speaking of pump cozies, have you seen Blue Garter's latest post, Back to the Knitting? Her husband is starting a new business/website for people managing diabetes, who want to keep track of their insulin online. I am sure I don't understand everything about it, but I thought you'd be interested in taking a look at the site, called SweetSpot.

Good luck with Summer of Socks too!!!!!

Ok, I did it, I joined. You are so convincing!
Well, I've been forty for 2 months and it is not so bad yet... It has its ups and down. I have that back-up though of really only being 10, so maybe that helps a bit:)

Socks are very cute! Age is just a number. The night I turned 40 I slept in my Winnie the Pooh pajamas. You're as "old" as you want to be!

It's all about how you feel on the inside that counts and let me just say you don't look anywhere near 40! Do make sure you treat yourself nice on Birthday though.

The socks look great! I totally forgot to post my April SAM socks.

I really think you are as old as you feel... I'm a younger person but I feel older just because of having so much responsibility so soon in life... aka kids. Therefore I feel and fit in better with people who are older than I am, but I think of us as equals. Age really is just a number. Actually one of my friends is as old as my mother, she is so awesome and loves to knit too~!

I'm going to go check out the summer of the socks right now...
