Christmas Socks Done!

They took me quite a while, but I've finally finished the socks I started on Christmas morning with the Step Yarn the Pea put under the tree.

Christmas Morning Socks
Cast On: 25 December 2006
Completed: 24 March 2006
Yarn: Austermann Step - 01 Laub (Leaves)
Needles: Knit Picks US2 Circs
Pattern: Wendy's Generic Toe-Up, with K3, P1 ribbing for leg

I really loved working with the yarn. The aloe and jojoba in there isn't just a gimmick. When I knit with this yarn my hands didn't get all dry and flaky like they usually do. And when I wore them, I felt that my feet were much softer that night. This is a big deal for me, as I have definite dryness issues. I rub petroleum jelly on my hands and feet each night before bed. Yucky, I know, but it works! I've already bought a second skein of this yarn, and I also think it would be a great choice for socks that will be gifted away. It would bring a bit more pampering to the giftee!

They socks are lovely, and thanks for the review of the "lotion". Great job of matching the stripes!

Nice socks! I like the k3, p1 ribbing too. I've been using Wendy's toe-up pattern a lot lately. Your ability to match up the stripes is quite impressive!

Lovely!

I use a foot treatment from Burt's Bees that works well on the feel as well. I have similar "dry feet" issues.

My gosh, they are gorgeous! What a beautiful and subtle colourway - perfect! You know, I was very curious to read about your impressions of the aloe and jojoba that's in the yarn - I really thought that's just an addition to have a reason to make the yarn a bit more expensive - but what you wrote about it was proof enough for me that it isn't just a gimmick, but something very cool! Will have to get myself a skein or two of that, you've certainly inspired me - and my hands could use a bit of something to soften them up too!

I have that same color - so cool to see them knit up. I started a pair of socks in a different colorway. For the first inch I was sure I hated the yarn because it felt so different. By the second inch I had totally fallen in love. Other sock yarn felt strange after that!

Wow, they match perfectly! I smiled when I saw your post, because your "christmas" socks are the same idea as my "birthday" sweater...started on that particular day! Doesn't it feel like a little bit of Christmas all over again?

I agree that the Step feels so nice to the touch. I saw a massive amount of it today at a yarn store and was so enthralled that I didn't buy any as it was too hard to choose! Love the 'laub'colorway.
