New Week, New Month, Fresh Start

Things have been pretty dull here on this little blog. In fact, things have been pretty dull in my little life. Sure, I have been doing some fun and exciting things too, but overall I’ve been going through quite a rough patch. A rough patch that makes it very hard to work up the ambition to do much of anything, especially blog.

I’m not really sure exactly what it is that is going on with me. Perhaps a bit of a mid-life crisis? I guess that’s what you’d call it when you take a look at your days and at your life in general, and feel like you are doing nothing that contributes to society in any way.  And you wonder how you got to this point. And you realize it’s not where you want to be. Don’t get me wrong, I have plenty of things in my life that I feel so lucky about – mainly my sweet husband. But it’s time for more. Time to DO SOMETHING. The problem is . . . what????

I’ve figured out that the first step is to DO ANYTHING! Stop moping around feeling sorry for myself. Stop hiding away and start being more social. Get back to the blogging and the e-mails and the Twittering. Clear the clutter in the house and get things organized. Clear the clutter in my brain and get things organized there too. Find some courses to take and enroll in them.  I don’t have to decide what my career will be right now . . . just find some classes in something interesting and see where they lead. And start creating again. I have cast on a couple of new knitting projects. I have some sewing project swimming around in my brain. I bought some clay and paints for another project I’d like to try.  Maybe I'll get a garden planted.  And I have a bunch of recipes printed out. Cooking and baking are just as creative to me as any craft. You start with a pile of raw material and turn it into something great.

Today is Monday, a new start to the week. The first Monday in May, a new start to the month. I’d say it’s time for a fresh start. Who’s ready to make a fresh start with me?

I'm with you! Decluttering your life and making things always seems to help in putting me back on track. At least my focus shifts and that always seems to help as well.

My life is such a messed up whirl or overwhelming crud right now that I just want to stay in bed. I'm with you on the blechs... not that it helps you out any. Scritches to KC and hugs to Pea.

I'd clear the clutter in my brain, but I put it down somewhere and now I can't find it.

I love Mondays -- I start with a clean slate for the week.

Understand exactly how you feel.....here are some things I've done....when that happens.....

Get a part time job

Volunteer -- lots of opportunities, I do Medicare counseling right now

Take a fun class -- rollerskating, upholstery (sp), a new language, line dancing

Plant a garden

Look at the things to do section in the paper (ours is in Thursday's edition) and pick out one at random to do

Visit a tourist site close to home that you've never been to

I just started a part time job a few weeks ago

You've got some great ideas to get you started. You could also play tourist in your neighborhood.

And if all else fails, have a kid. Then you have NO time to be bored!! LOL

Sorry to hear you're feeling mid-lifey. Our birthday is coming soon, so it makes sense, eh?

How about yoga? Tennis! Teach knitting at your community center! Most of all, be nice to yourself. Me, I got a pedicure and eyebrow waxing this weekend--very indulgent for me! I like the garden idea, too.

I'm with you, too!

In fact, I have decided to start a new work-out program to get rid of the winter pounds. Also I have decided to visit some museums and am contemplating enrolling in university with a second degree (doing BA in Business Admin right now, but thinking about Interior design or Agriculture)... all that clutter in my brain definitely needs sorting through!

Fresh starts are awesome! You should definitely do it - I am sure it will make you feel so much better!

Seriously it seems like, to me anyway, to be such a blah time. I am just sitting and do not know what to do with myself. I have been told it could be cause I am hurt and limited in what I can do. I do not feel like doing much of anything... I do believe you are right though it is time to get out of the funk

=)

I think this is an exciting time for you! I love a fresh start!! You can try out all kinds of new stuff, have fun, and learn about yourself. I've been working on my own "fresh start" as well! I cut off all my hair and I'm planning a whole new wardrobe that better reflects ME!

De-cluttering is a great way to feel better about life.

I find that doing the photo a day thing really makes you begin to look around and appreciate just everyday simple stuff. That helps keep stress at bay for me....or negative feelings. Hope your feeling up to par soon!

I'm late to this post, but wanted to add, "me too." The year didn't start the way I thought, with the loss of job and my dad being sick. And the endless rain hasn't helped. But I agree with the other commenters that being good to ourselves is a wonderful first step. And being with people and getting involved in projects helps too. ((hugs))
