Oh how I love this song . . .
Of course, there was no need to include the YouTube video in this post, but I love it so much that I couldn't resist.
On to the goodbyes. Spring cleaning mojo and the feeling of fresh starts around here (what with the big pump hookup tomorrow) combined with my ongoing goal to clear up WIPs and general feeling of Knitting Ennui. The result? A pile of WIPs ready to be frogged.
Here's what went:
- Charade socks in Cherry Tree Hill - loved the pattern, loved the yarn, but need to go up a needle size. I'll start these over at some point on Size 2.
- Marie Antoinette in Knit Picks Essential Tweed - loved the pattern, liked the yarn, but not together.
- Casino Shawl - I'm pretending that was a practice swatch. After buying some gray Briar Rose Fibers Angelface at Rhinebeck, I decided I'd like the shawl much better in that.
- Tahoe - Okay, I won't lie, this one hurt. I had the back and one front done. But it wasn't coming out as good as it could. The gauge swatch lied, and I need to go down a needle size. Also, it just seemed like sloppy knitting. I'll do this again, but much better!!
Ah, a nice pile of stash and a bunch of free needles. Actually, I felt so good after my major frogging session that I went back and frogged my Mystery Stole also. (No pictures on that though - I was too caught up frogging to snap any.) I liked the start of the Mystery Stole and I loved the beads in it, but I didn't love the idea of the wing. I decided I'd probably never finish it, and even if I did I might never wear it. I can knit some other lace with pretty beads instead!!
And that's it!! Sorry for the lack of links - we've been going through some rough family stuff here and Pea and I have had a pretty crappy weekend, so I didn't have the energy for the fancy links. I won't dwell on it any longer though - since I need to get in a positive frame of mind for my Insulin Pump Adventure. Be sure to come back tomorrow to read all about it, and about Type 1 Awareness Day!!

It feels good to frog things that need to be frogged doesn't it?
I love that song too! Sarah Brightman is awesome! I had a hard time finding the lyrics in English though.
Yeah! I think it is a little liberating to frog something going no where. I frogged my Bellatrix socks and my stepson watched me with the What the... look on his face. He couldn't believe I could do that.
=)
I have the worst time bringing myself to frog something, unless I know I'm doing it only to re-knit right away.
Oh, and sending happy thoughts your way for tomorrow. I know a few folks with pumps (one of them is a 7th grader I've known since kindergarten - friend of my son), and they all L-O-V-E them. The 7th grader, especially, feels like she can be "more normal" with the pump than before.
Hehe..looks like we both had frogging on our minds (mine will be Monday's post) Hoping you have a better week and wishing you great luck with your new pump! :)
I was worried for a moment that you were going to stop blogging..... Noooooo ... A fresh start on some fresh projects is just what you need some times, huh!
IMO frogging an item counts as a FO.
I'll be thinking about you today as you go in for your pump.
Hugs to you and Pea both!
Now I have that song in my head but I need to say good bye to a few things too!
Haha...I also had Nathalie's reaction, too! Good for you for knowing when to say when. Isn't it funny how those UFOs can be such a weight on the conscience? And how you can feel so free when you let them go?
Here's to new beginnings, your new knitting projects, and your adventures with the new pump. I hope all goes well today, and I'm looking forward to learning from you.
Well frogged! I find that once I make up my mind to start cleaning out old WIPs, I go into a sort of frogging fugue state wherein I MUST FROG MORE. One of these days I'm afraid I'll wake up hours later, surrounded by the ruins of all my WIPs - including the good ones. :)
Nothing is better for de-stressing than a little frogging party!
:o)
I hope that your new versions of those projects make you happier.
Wow.
:o)
Good for you! Maybe you'll inspire me to do the same with some of my languishing projects.
I know how hard it can be to frog projects that just aren't working but now you can cast on for new things!
