Before I get blathering on about my finished socks, I wanted to take a minute to thank each and every one of you who left me a comment and sent thoughts, prayers and energies to me, Pea and Charlie. I admit to taking a moping day last Friday, but since then we've been able to see that things aren't so bad. I'll continue to take the best care of myself that I can, do even more research on diabetic eye problems, and work pro-actively with my doctors to keep my eyes as healthy as possible. Pea is working hard to look for a new job, and we are continuing to hope that either a lay-off never happens or that he finds a new job before it comes to that. And Charlie is getting better. He seems to be having a bit of a set-back today, but I'm hoping it was just the damp and rainy weather making him feel a bit, well, under the weather! The sun is now back out, so hopefully he'll be his, well, sunny self again.
Now, what you've really come to see. A new pair of finished socks!
Pattern: My own generic 3x1 ribbed socks, 56 stitches
Cast on: 30 September 2007
Completed: 20 January 2008
Yarn: Lana Grossa Meilenweit 100 Multieffekt
Needles: Knit Picks US 2 1/2 (3mm) DPNs
What can I say? I love them. They almost match, except for a little part on the heel, which is because I fiddled a bit with my pattern on the second sock. Yes, it bothers the OCD part of me. Yes, Monk would reject them. But I guess I'm okay with the minor imperfection. See, I'm growing as a person (and a knitter!).

I like them and I would never have noticed the slight difference in the heel if you hadn't pointed it out.
Congratulations on a great pair of socks and your progress as a person and as a knitter!
Those socks are BEAUTIFUL! Wow, you are talented. Great news about Charlie being better and I know you and Pete will be just fine. Good things always happen to good people, I always say!
Beautiful socks...There's nothing like a good FO when you're feeling down. :) Monk would probably throw them away or frog the entire thing! I'm glad you don't feel compelled to do so. LOL.. I kind of like it when there are small, subtle differences in handknit socks.
Nice chocolatey shades of brown! Yay for an FO!
Gorgeous socks! I'm glad you all are feeling better about things. Life is not easy, but you have my friendly thoughts and support!
I think good job hunting luck for him. We went through a similar thing with Jason's last job and in the end it worked out better for us. I love the socks. I wish I had the patience to knit more plain ribbed or stockinette socks for myself.
Love those socks, and to a non-perfectionist such as myself they look perfect!!
It's those little imperfections that make handknitted socks so easy to love. I love the way you used the socks to frame the optimistic pillow saying! I'm sending well wishes for the three of you too! Hopefully things will continue to get better.
They are wonderful. And though Monk (LOL) would reject them, you have grown above knitting OCD and accepted that they are bound to be different! Hahahah. Go Karen!
Take care!
Oh yes, love that pillow too.
The socks look really great! I absolutely love Monk. I have such a crush on him.
The "saying" with your socks is wonderful! I love it, but not as much as I love your socks. You are growing as a knitter if you're not so bothered by the heel that you'd rip them back. Good for you!
I'm glad to hear that you're spirits are a bit higher after all the stuff you're dealing with. Just know you're in my thoughts!
The socks look great! Sending good thoughts your way.
Beautiful socks! I love the matchiness too. Glad you're feeling better. You have a lot going on! I'll keep sending good thoughts your way.
I love the lana grossa colorway. Oh just lovely. I have the same little sign on my doorway as you enter my house.
Ooh, fun, new socks! They look terrific, and nobody will see the heel! Fight the OCD! :-)
lOVE THE SOCKS! I love that yarn too, I jsut finished ones similar to those, well not really, but the same brand and tweedy :O) sorry I'm a goof! Yeah for getting your J!!! I wasn't sure I'd make it in time, I think I need to cast on right away for my feb socks... but I'm sure I'll wait until the last week, just like i normally do ;O)
Great socks!
I'm glad things are a bit sunnier this week and hope they continue to be bright.
I love your new socks--your feet will go "ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh"
They look great! I'm glad you're able to let that little bit of imperfection go. :)
Lovley socks-I have been knitting forever and still haven't done socks. I still mourn my cat Bubbles and he was killed 8 years ago.
