I haven't posted since WHEN?????

Oh my, it's been almost a week already!! Things here have been fine, just a little busy. A blood test and trip to the doctor (nothing to worry, just the normal quarterly visit for diabetics), a trip to the dentist, a day at The Big E, a day at another Renaissance Faire, a day on the couch with a cold, meetings about our house, and . . . well . . . not much knitting.

I had hoped to have a finished pair of socks to kick off my first October post(which is, of course, a Socktober post), but they aren't quite done yet. Soon, but not today.

So I will leave you with a picture of what has been taking up the bulk of our time over here. A "before" picture of my little house.

Click to enlarge for a better view, and you'll see all the problems. Peeling paint . . . rotting wood . . . it's needed work since I bought it 7 years ago, but after replacing the roof I didn't have money left to do anything else. However, on Friday the make-over will begin! The big bushes you see in front are already gone. Next the shingles (with all the lead paint) will be removed, insulation will be added (so it may actually feel warm in here this winter) and new fiber cement siding will be installed. We are so excited to see the progress . . . but it is seriously cutting into my yarn budget!!!

ahhhh, you'll just love the house when its a bit further progressed! Especially that insulation, that's a gift that keeps on giving with every power bill you receive. A new roof is not sexy like a new kitchen or something is, but it will feel good to you. It doesn't matter if no-one else understands

Wow! If you looked up "Cute Little House" in the dictionary you'd see that picture! Can't wait to see the 'after".

What a cute house! I love your porch. We have decks, but I'd really rather have a porch. Have fun with the makeover!

Awww...your house is cute, and will look so nice when you are finished with your upgrades! I can sympathize with the "being busy and not posting thing" as I am in the same boat. Tee-hee. I have been so swamped with LIFE and now...I am sick (again).

I have porch envy! We have been "fixing" up our very old, very little house for 12 years now - it is coming along, but I know how you feel, I wanted it done NOW! I can't wait to see the after picture :)

What a wonderful house! There is nothing like a little sprucing up to make you fall in love with it all over again! Enjoy.

I love it!!!! My husband and I, who are house-hunting, have made an offer on a really cute bungalow and it reminds me so much of your house! It also needs alot of work and we're really excited to think that we can help save it. I can't wait to see what you do with your renovation.

Wow, you've certainly been busy these days - and I do hope your cold is all gone by now? Sending all the best wishes from across the pond to you!
Wow, what a gorgeous house this is! But I agree, houses are just always a lot of work, it often seems to me that as soon as one repair is done, something else pops up. But then again, it's definitely worth it, living for rent like we do sucks big time! So I wish you all the best of luck with the repairs and upgrades!
