Move along, nothing to see here . . .

Really, you shouldn't even bother reading this post. I got nothing. Go see if The Yarn Harlot posted . . . I'm sure she's got plenty for you to read about. There's nothing to see here.

The baby sweater? The one for the Christening that was last Sunday? You want to see that? Yeah, so do I. No problem. There it is, on the left. See it? No?? Come on, where is your imagination. Can't you pretend there is a beautiful baby sweater resting right there? The one that takes four to six hours to knit. Mmm, I've put at least twelve hours into it so far, and haven't even finished the 6 1/4 inches of the body. Why? Why??? Well, my needles are all wrong. The Denise needles aren't working for this project at all . . . . the yarn won't move over the joins. Very aggravating. So I dug around and found an Addi Turbo with a too long cord. I am desperate enough to Magic Loop it . . . even though the cord is a little small for Magic Looping and I've never Looped before. Even without the needles problems, I doubt I could ever knit this thing in six hours.

How 'bout those Embossed Leaves socks? In that pretty Appletini yarn? Those must being coming along nicely? No???? Oh yeah, I haven't started them yet. Why? Why???? Well, I'm trying to be GOOD. I want to start them. I want to cast on so badly. But I told myself it was more important to get that baby sweater done on time. Yeah, we can see how well that worked out, can't we? I guess there's nothing stopping me from casting on today. Umm, almost nothing. Except that I need to get that sweater done before Camden is too big to wear it. He was born two months ago weighing 4lbs, 7oz. Now he's over 8 lbs. That's double his birth weight . . . in two months!!! So in two more months, he'll double his weight again and be up over 16 lbs!!!! (Yeah, I know that's not how it works . . . just humor me. It will make me knit faster).

When all else fails, we can always flash some yarn p*rn, right?? All that great new yarn I bought at Maryland Sheep and Wool. Oh yeah, I didn't go to Maryland S&W . . . I was at the Christening with my new baby sweater. Well, how about the yarn I bought at my LYS on Saturday. Oh yeah, I didn't go to the LYS . . . I was working on that d*mn baby sweater. Well, how about the new yarn I ordered on-line? Mmm hmm, I still got nothing. No new yarn. No new yarn for a long, long time. At least until my birthday (I hope). Why? Why???? Well, Pea's huge dentist bills, followed by a big trip to the garage for his car (which STILL is not fixed, thank you very much) have pretty much ensured we won't be seeing any new yarn here for quite some time. We'll be lucky if we're not eating Raman Noodles every night, let alone buying yarn.

So there you go. Nothing to see here. A whole post of nothing. Don't say I didn't warn you! Go on ahead over to The Harlot now and see what great stuff she's doing.

If your circulars aren't big enough to do a true magic loop, try for a "lazy loop" (as I call it). Instead of pulling out two loops, one at the beginning of the row and the other halfway around, pull just one bigger loop out at the beginning of the row. It's a lot faster and easier, all told. Good luck with the sweater!

Oh, sounds like your having a very bad couple of days. I'm trying to figure out how to send you a virtual chocolate bar, that is the quickest way to feel better.

And remember, the baby won't grow that quickly, and your socks will be wonderful.

Then it's lace time.

awww Karen :( Sounds like you are in the same boat I'm in - bailing for all I'm worth! It will get better (this is what I tell myself) and the sun will come out again (next week maybe)! How was the Christening? Did you have fun? I bet he was just so cuddly! Make yourself a nice hot beverage and curl up in your pretty little craft room with some nice music on and relax - or try anyway.
I'm sending you HUGE virtual hugs!

There's no knitting content in my life either. Hence the lovely photo of yarn in my post today ;o)

Oh, Karen, you're cracking me up! Sometimes the knitting just does not flow. It stinks, but what ya gonna do? I'm really glad that weight doubling thing doesn't continue though. Picture me sending you good vibes and go eat some chocolate. That always helps.

Poo...it sounds like you are down! I wanted to tell you that I still enjoyed reading your post about nothing, and can totally sympathize with you! Last month, I was feeling the same...but now I am back (and you will be soon too).
:)

you are too funny. i don't mean to make light of your knitting predicament, though i know how that feels. i found out all the money starfish and i saved to go to japan isn't going to be enough. we'll have enough for the tickets and hotel, but just barely enough for food and not nearly enough for shopping! so i'm on a yarn famine myself for a couple of months. it's okay, it'll do me good to knit from the stash. oy, me knit from the stash!? wow. that actually sounds fun! and i can spin to keep me occupied, at least....
don't worry karen. you'll get your knitting mojo back! :)

Whew! I'm glad I'm not the only one with nothing to show for myself! Since you've got nothing to say in your post...I've got nothing to say in this comment!

But you *do* have new yarn coming soon, just as soon as I dye it up for you! I've been practicing on swatches, and I think I have a pretty cool idea...
xo,
your secret sockyarn pal

Oh, this sounds like pure desperation - poor you! Just take it easy, take your time with everything that you've planned, sit back and relax a bit and you'll see, everything will come together nicely in the end!
I sure hope you had a good and fun time at the christening, didn't you?

That's the funniest "nothing" I've read in a while!

Karen, you crack me up! Not only are you hilarious, but very talented on your computer the way you can make those pictures with the words. (You know me! Not that way at all!) And, I since I am in a knitting slump too, I sympathize. We need a jolt to get us moving. Let me know if you get or find one! Also, what about LOST? Holy Cow! Two dead! And what about Michael?

Karen I know how you feel. It took me 5 days to finish a small garter stitch scarf! And I still have to get started on my last paper of the semester...dragging it out to the bitter end :)! I say be bad and cast on your embossed leaves socks!

Happy Knitting...
Amanda

Man, you gotta hate that high pressure gift knitting. :) I say, cast on those socks anyway. Maybe stepping away from the baby sweater will help you get excited about it again.

Awww Karen. Darling post despite your self loathing. Go easy on yourself hon. No pressure no pressure. We'll wait. You have a great blog. Enjoy your weekend!

oh please dont be so hard on yourself! these things happen, and its not like the baby will remember the christening day! you are a good person - I'm sure that your knitting will get done, and even if it doesn't, you're still amazing for volunteering to knit for a baby. remember, there is always next Winter (I do)
