Goody Two Shoes

Take a trip with me . . . back to the '80's. Good old Adam Ant. In his immortal words:

Don't drink, don't smoke - what do you do?
I never meant to be a Goody Two Shoes, but somehow I always have been. Followed the rules. Never got detention. Never got searched by security when going into concerts. They would pat everyone down, but when I got to the head of the line, they would just say "You're okay, go ahead". I could have had ANYTHING hidden in my '80's oversized sweater! I never did though. I guess they could just tell. Heck, I'm convinced I'm the only person in the world who graduated college never having, uh, tried a puff of a certain recreational product.

I guess my subconscious must feel like it's missed out on something. I found myself totally intrigued and obsessed with a certain yarn. I hope the neighbors weren't around yesterday, when I danced with joy on my front porch because a little brown box arrived containing this!!

flash my stashI hadn't even opened the box yet, and I was already feeling a contact high!! I picked it out to knit this little cutie. I'm dying to start it RIGHT AWAY, but I'm trying to hold out and finish my Socktoberfest socks first (yes, I am aware it is January!!). And I should probably knit my legwarmers and Hourglass soon, so I can actually wear them before it gets warm. It is this "responsible nature" that prevents me from losing my Good Two Shoes status.

But after those projects are finished, watch out!! Rebel knitter!!! Hemp here I come. Kind of gives a whole new meaning to the words "STASH YARN".

gasp! I love that pattern! Love love love it!!! And you're so funny about the hemp thing. You should burn a little piece of it to see if it really smells like, you know what.

i suffered second hand weed inhalation in college. my next-door neighbors smoked daily, almost constantly. they deactivated the smoke detector and had curtains up and everything in their room, but to no avail: the entire first floor stank to high...uh, stank. they got away with it practically the entire year. i stayed in my bf's room on the third floor most of that year...
how about those yarn obsessions, eh? i get it in spurts. just wait until your stash gets to the point where you have to use a spreadsheet to organize it...hehe.

Oh, pretty, pretty yarn. And lacy little top indeed! I always had a healthy fear of consequences so never got into much trouble. I remember some classmates in high school being impressed/astonished when they saw me smoking a cigarette one time. "Wow, dude, we thought you were a goody-goody!"

Okay, I hope you get this comment!!! That hemp is great stuff, and it gets really soft after you wash it... I have some that I used for a design that I'm going to work up even if my swatch gets rejected! Love it!

You're so funny!! I think you just emanate that certain "I'm a really nice person" vibe, which is a GOOD thing!! That even comes through your posts and comments...not that you're a goody two shoes, but that you're just a really nice person. (Which is why we all love you so much!) And I'm right there with you on the goody-two shoes thing. Never puffed, never inhaled, heck, I never took a sip of alcohol till I was 23! I get the same responsible knitter guilt, too. ;-) I LOVE the pattern you chose! How cute is that??! And the hemp looks fantastic- gorgeous color choice! Go, rebel knitter, go! :-)
