Have you forgotten I existed? Have I been away too long for you to remember me? Yup, out of sight, out of mind, right?
Well, the same goes for knitting!! I suppose it would come as no surprise if I fess up that my knitting dry spell has stretched on through the summer. It’s not that I don’t think of knitting often. It’s not that I don’t admire my pretty yarn and dream of the projects I’ll knit up. It’s not that I don’t long for yarn running through my fingers. Because trust me, I do.
Maybe part of the problem is that I’m just too darn neat. I’ve got my WIPs tucked away in project bags, all tidy and organized. And since I don’t see them, I tend to forget about them when stolen bits of knitting time are presented. Because, you know, out of sight, out of mind.
So I decided to loosen up a bit. I pulled out my sock project and left it splayed out on the living room table. And I found rows are getting knitted here and there. A few rounds got done while the morning coffee was brewing. It rode along to the train station for some knitting while I waited for Pete’s train.
It may not be much, but it’s a step in the right direction!! And it helped get knitting back on my mind!

Out of Sight, Out of Mind . . .

Hey stranger!! My mojo is coming back slowly too. Too neat, that's cute! If that was me I would probably be knitting more. I just don't want to deal with the stash diving to find the yarn I want.
Besides a few stitches here and there and before you know it you'll have an fo. Besides it's not like this heat helps anybody want to do anything.
Yep, baby steps. Next you might want to shop your stash.......
Hiya! Good for you! Sometimes we need a break you know ;)
Hello my friend. I figured you were busy enjoying summer! BTW - be careful when you wash those socks. HAND wash only! Do not, I repeat, DO NOT use the hand wash cycle on your washing machine or you'll have itty bitty felted socks. (Don't ask me how I know this!)
Welcome back and I've had a bit of a knitting dry spell myself. Hoping to break it! -amysue
Back in sight, happily - always in mind, lovingly!
Sometimes the urge to knit moves out of our minds, but isn't it always in our fingers? As soon as you pick up a project, they fall into their accustomed positions, and start moving thru the oft-rehearsed dance steps of poke, loop, pull, slide - poke, loop, pull, slide. (It sometimes resembles sumo more than dancing in my case. Sigh.)
As the mind recalls what the fingers can do, it starts to race ahead to the next project and the one after that, and do I have time to stop at the LYS today? HaHa, silly question! Where's that credit card?
And there you are, back in heaven, and back in debt.
My mojo usually deserts in the summer, but it didn't this year for some reason. Probably because we've had the air conditioner on constantly. Pretty sock yarn!
Glad to see you! I must confess I haven't checked in for a while-got too much going on. I'm glad I did-just in time for your latest post.
So glad to see you here! I think your idea is great, to leave the knitting out where it's easy to knit a few stitches here and there. I only seem to get my knitting done when I'm in the car; hopefully the motivation will come back soon.
Give K.C. a hug for me!
Welcome back! That's how to do it, I can never forget my knitting, its always on top of my desk ... and chair ... and ottoman .... etc. in my computer room ... its everywhere, LOL!
my knitting has been ignored lately too. I'm not sure if its because I've been so busy with my kids, traveling, canning, gardening or what. But knitting hasn't been on the top of my mind the past few months. I did pick Aidez back up and am loving the cables.
