WIP Wednesday - Non-Knitting Edition

The past week has been filled with a WIP of a different kind. Remember that bathroom re-do we started over a year ago? Like many of my knitting WIPs, we kind of lost the love on this project and put it into Hibernation. But last week, Pea took some days off and we dove in on this UFO.  Forces were working against us.  Five days of rain and humidity made the primer and each coat of paint take at least 7 hours to dry.   (We used that time to visit with some family that was down from Maine).  So it's not quite a FO yet, but at least we're getting somewhere.

The walls are progressing . . .

there has been lots of patching and painting . . .

and the new vanity and sink are finally in, along with a bead-board backsplash to replace those ugly tiles!!

Obviously, we still have a lot of work left. None of the trim has been painted.   Neither has the outside of the claw-foot tub.  The new light and medicine cabinet have not been installed.  All the little bath accessories still need to be purchased and put in.  And a new curtain needs to be made.  I'm hoping we can get this accomplished over the next few weekends.

Of course, progress on this WIP has been made at the sacrifice of many other things!  I'm behind on my on-line class.  I haven't been posting to my blogs.  I have barely been commenting or e-mailing people.  I have mounds of dirty laundry waiting and I can remember the last time I cooked a good meal instead of ordering take-out.  And knitting progress has been going SLOW.  So if I'm a little scarce for the next week or so, it's just because I'm trying to get life back on track.  Those big WIPs sure have a way of taking over!!

I'm a fan of moving out of the house during any construction or painting projects! I never get to actually DO that, but it's always my wish!!
Good luck, it will be worth it in the end.

That is a big project undertaking! Doesn't it seem like time is going by so fast. And the laundry is just out of control this fall. What is up with that? But I do very much like that color blue you are using! Can't wait to see how awesome it will look when done! Good luck!

Oh Thank goodness another couple moves at a snails pace sometimes with updates to the house! You just enjoy, take more pics along the way and we'll look forward to your posts when you can get back to them!

It's looking wonderful so far -- so bright and cheery! I love white and blue in a bathroom.

We finished painting my office room a few days ago, so I know how long it has been taking paint to dry. Still can't put up the prints yet.

Hang in there!!!

knitting progress is slow all around... don't feel bad! :) - a word of caution though - just be careful (aware) of how close your vanity is to your tub - it'll be easy to not see the water on that cabinet and it might (in time) start to affect the finish... probably not really a problem but eek it looks VERY close in the pic :)
it IS looking amazing though - you should be very proud!

I love the blue. I'm afraid to even start any projects in our new house. Don't get too tired and make sure to not let stress get to you. Everything gets done in the end.

I'm glad to know that we're not the only slow-pokes when it comes to remodeling. We've run out of money though because of too many vacation splurges, so we have to stay home for awhile and rebuild the home improvement savings account.

I love how your remodel looks so far. What a major improvement! I can't wait to see it when it's completed.
