Always listen to the voters . . .

Nope, I'm not giving advice to the candidates.  I'm talking to myself.

Last week or so, I had that poll up asking for help choosing the buttons for February Lady.  Only 13% liked Choice 2, the green buttons.  Choice 1 and Choice 3 were neck-and-neck through most of the voting, with Choice 3 eking out the win by one vote.  But I was still worried.  I was afraid those oblong buttons wouldn't fit through my button-holes.  So I went with my gut and ordered Choice 1. They arrived yesterday.

They are beautiful!  I love them.  The workmanship is amazing.  They are true treasures.  The problem . . . .?

Their color looks TERRIBLE against my sweater.  It's rainy here today, so the colors in my picture are off (yeah, that's right, I'm blaming the rain).  But trust me, their shade of brown DOES NOT go with the brown of my sweater.  Even Pea agreed that they just don't match - and if he can tell it doesn't match, it has to be bad

So I have learned my lesson.  When you put up a poll, listen to the results!!  Don't ask for advice and then do the opposite - that's just mucking up your karma.  I have learned my lesson.  I'm saving my pennies for another set of buttons.  A set I will buy in a store, where I can hold them up to my sweater.

Oh Karen that is horrible! They did look wonderful in the picture. Well at least now you have a great set of buttons to knit a sweater for?! I know that might not make it better. Your sweater though looks like it is really moving along.

They're such pretty buttons too! You'll knit the perfect sweater for them soon, I just know it.

I was out of town so I couldn't vote but I have to tell you that odd shaped buttons are a PITA. Always go with round when you can. Perhaps you need to search for another option?

Oh no! :( They are so cute, but I can tell they are the wrong shade! Bummer! But, you're sweater is looking good!

Beautiful buttons. Beautiful sweater. Too bad they didn't match better for you. Can you return them or use them for something else?

I know it's wrong to giggle, but it sounds exactly like something I would do. In fact, I frequently ask people for advice, and then ignore them completely and do it my own way. I hate it when it bites me in the butt.

I'm sure you'll find the perfect yarn to match those buttons for a future project. It's a total bummer though for your current sweater.

Well, the buttons are somewhat 'meh' but they are offset by the gorgeousness of the sweater!!

Awww... that sucks! They are so pretty though! You'll just have to knit another sweater to go with them. ;)

Was I the ONLY one to vote choice #2?

I had to bring practice sweater in to the store to find her buttons. You know before Sunny had them sewn on for me at the cleaners. Maybe you could use puppy buttons and match me. I'm just trying to be a great knitter like YOU> Look at all that lacey bodice. So cute.

Oh bummer!! Well, at least with the sweater in hand, you'll pick some good ones! Hehe..now you have to knit another sweater to use those buttons!

Oh Drat! They are beautiful buttons, but they just don't pop with your lovely Lady. I'm so sorry. Have you thought about taking the sweater to Cynthia to see what she has for buttons? She's usually a genius when it comes to matching the perfect button to the project. Good luck. Your Lady looks wonderful!

I am so sorry the buttons didn't work out!!! I hope you can find something that you like soon.

I took Caroline to the LYS tonight and it really does help to be able to lay out the sweater and hold up the buttons right to it.

I missed the button voting post (I must have been on vacation), but these are lovely buttons. It is too bad that they don't really go with the sweater though. But now you have an excuse to make another sweater to go with those buttons, right? Maybe something in a sage-y green?

Sorry to hear your buttons didn't work out. They are beautiful though and I'm sure someday they will find the sweater they were meant for.

That's too bad! On the plus side, you have a lovely set of buttons for another sweater!
