*sigh*

It's two weeks today since we had to let my little Charlie go. It hasn't been a good two weeks. I have yet to get through a day without crying from the overwhelming feeling of missing my little furry companion. Thank you so much to all of you who left comments on his good-bye post - I was moved by each and every one, and I know he can feel all the love you've sent him as he made his final journey home. And the fact that the comments on his post were nearly double the amount of comments I've every gotten was somehow a great comfort to me.

So, two weeks. Seems like it should be time to get back into the old routines. Start posting to the blog again. But I don't quite know what to talk about. Honestly, everything these days is clouded by one fact: I miss Charlie.

If there is ever anything that makes a sad person (and certainly a sad knitter) feel somewhat happy, it's a new baby. Luckily, one of my closest friends just had a little boy, Adian. I have a sweater planned for him, but in the meantime, look what I whipped up.

Sockabooties
Cast on: 19 February 2008
Completed: 23 February 2008
Yarn: Debbie Bliss Baby Cashmerino - Lt Yellow
Needles: Knit Picks US3 (3.25mm) DPNs

This is a really cute pattern, and it goes so fast. I could have knit them in one day if I had been focused enough to work on them for a small chunk of time. As it was, I knit the first on the 19th and did the second this morning.

As an added bonus, because they have a toe section and a turned heel, these little babies earn me a February credit in Sock-A-Month 5.

I know how hard it is; I'm sorry you're going through this. I don't know if it's too soon, but a kitten can be an awfully good distraction.

Seriously cute booties.

I think that losing a furry little companion (especially one that snuggles and purrs...) takes a loooong time to start hurting so much. My dog is 11 and I cry just thinking about the fact that he won't always be with us. :(

So good to hear from you again Sweetie. I was getting worried. It is a huge loss. Give yourself time. Keep talking to us. We are good listeners.

THe booties are so sweet!

YOU can always talk about the weather to us!

I'm glad you're back, I've been worried about you. The most important thing to remember is how happy you made his last months and how happy he made you.

Oh, and it does take time to get over this. I haven't had a cat since my baby died, and that was 3.5 years ago. Mind you, I now work in a cattery, which helps a lot. Maybe you could work as a volunteer with cats?

Take the time to grieve. I still, a year and half later, miss my Ashe. It's ok. *hugs*

I am glad to see that you are getting back to some of your routines, despite the sadness you are feeling in your heart. You will think of him a lot, and in time some thoughts of him will make you happy (instead of everything making you cry).
I love the booties, they are so cute. I am sure that they will look great on Adian.

It takes time to heal a loss like that. It will get better, eventually, but be good to yourself in the meanwhile. Knitting sweet booties is a good start.

I am so glad to see you post. I was worried about you!!

Our little furry pals capture our hearts in ways we can never imagine.

Your Charlie was the luckest cat by far....to have found you and to have a had a warm, lovely home during his last weeks.

My heart goes out to you sweetie. I hope as time goes by the pain subsides.

Those baby booties are so so cute. I'm glad you're still knitting. How's Pete and how are your eyes?

What sweet little sockabooties(cute name too), Yeah that they count for the SAM5, thats an added bonus!

I can only imagine the pain you feel loosing your sweet Charlie, my kids still ask about him... and want to see his picture. While we were at my grandma's house there was a little stuffed kitten (that didn't even resemble Charlie) that they played with the whole time while we were there. They named him charile, I thought it was sweet... Don't know why but I thought I'd share with you, I hope the joy of your knitting can help you through this tough time.

It's a total cliche, but time does help heal. You don't forget, you just learn to live again. *big hugs*

The booties are way cute! Hope that little bit of sunshine helped brighten your day.

It's tough when you walk into a room and something doesn't look right; then you realize it's because the fur-guy isn't on the chair or the bed or at your feet.
