Thankful

There are many things in my life that I am thankful for each year. I'm very lucky to have friends, family, a good home, and so much love and comfort in my life.

This year, I'm extra lucky because I have something new on my list of things I am thankful for.

I am so lucky little Charlie found us and made it known that he intended to come live in our home. I have to admit, I was reluctant at first. Having never had a pet (other than fish or gerbils), and being as OCD as I am about the house, I was quite freaked at the thought of a cat roaming around the place. Just as I was getting used to the idea, we found out he had a raging case of fleas. (As you can imagine, freaking did not begin to cover that one!!)

But look at that little face. He's the sweetest cat I've ever known - and I'm really NOT a cat person. The fleas were gone as quickly as any doubts I had about taking him in. He's so loving and happy - all he really wants is food (lots and lots of food), good naps, and to follow me around the house. If he's near me, he's happy.

Thank you, Charlie, for coming into our home and our hearts and showing us just what we were missing.

Hope you all have plenty of love and happiness to be thankful for today too.

Cats and Dogs are a major support in the knitting life. Long may they cuddle!

PS I have seen the Harlots Sunrise Circle sweater and I think that yours is nicer! :)

Charlie is so cute cuddled up with his mousie! I woke up this morning with Kiki flicking the end of her tail on my nose. Ah, kitty love.

He's adorable!
That's pretty much how I felt when we first adopted our dog. I've always been a cat person and having a big sloppy messy dog was a big change. But even though he devoured my last slice of apple pie I still love him :)

I am moved by your ode to Charlie. It is so wonderful that you took him in, fleas and all. So many of us "non cat" people come to find the love and sweet disposition of these furry creatures.
Cheers,
Jessica

You needed Charlie as much as he needed you. Congratulations on your new family member just in time for the holidays.

My gosh, you have me in tears here! Little Charlie is a very, very lucky cat indeed to have found such a loving home - and you're very, very lucky that he chose you to live with! By now, you're certainly already realizing what a lot of love and affection a cat is able to give - these little furry noses are so thankful for having a warm place to sleep and something good to eat regularly. What you're doing for him is what you'll get back with lots and lots of love! And I *so* adore the pic of Charlie sleeping with his knitted toy - how cute can a cat be?!!! Awwww!
As for the fleas, my boys had them too of course, but nowadays these things are taken care of so quickly - mine got some sort of a lotion rubbed into their little necks, the fleas were gone, the procedure has to be repeated 3 weeks later and voila, no more fleas ;) It's worth it, isn't it?
